Not expected. Not at all. I don't know why, but I always anticipate disappointment when I'm going to see a live show. Touring is really hard on artists and one could understand they aren't at their best every night. Once you grow close to an artist's music or whatever performence, the bond is sacred for you, not necessarily for them. Like the fanboy I am, I got my heart broken many times by artists.
Henry Rollins is nothing like that. He came on stage right on time to deliver a PUMMELING three hours monologue about Montreal, Ann Coulter, Barack Obama's election day, The Bad Brains, Sons Of Anarchy, his recent travels and whatnot. During three hours, Rollins has been on stage, delivering his stories with the pace of a machine gun and the enthusiasm of a ten years old.
He is discoursing a lot about his level of energy and the intensity he puts in every single one of his shows. Well folks, here is an artist that doesn't talk out of his ass. Henry Rollins lives up to his legacy of being an electric peformer. He kept the crowd at the National in Montreal entertained and wanting for more despite the already late hour.
I am going to hit work today as hard as I can with as much focus and passion possible because now I have something to live up to. Now I know where I stand and where to go. Consider me enlightened.
