If you're wondering why HOGDOGGIN' won over CLOCKERS, it's because you haven't read HOGDOGGIN'. This versatile bad boy literally enslaved me to read it over a seven hours sitting, from New York to Montreal. It's the sequel to YELLOW MEDICINE, but it's so good it can be read on its own. It's so absolutely mean and demented, it makes SONS OF ANARCHY look like CAREBEARS. I have read a lot of crime fiction this year, but this book was the absolute best, and by far. Congratulations!

Jonathan Franzen for THE CORRECTIONS
I have read many books I couldn't wrap my mind around this year. While proving itself to be a challenging book by digging deep into the life of seemingly normal people and show us to their intimacy and their vulnerability. It's slow paced, like a calm river, but it goes also incredibly deep into the heart of the American family. Loved every second of it and I think it's going to make a great Series for HBO. I loved my reading of THE CORRECTIONS so much I am looking forward to read FREEDOM during the Holidays this year.

Last March, I didn't know who Anthony Neil Smith was, until I ran into a promotional post for the ePublication of his novel THE DRUMMER on Paul D. Brazill's blog (April 2nd is the exact date). Six months later, I have read six of his seven novels and have grown slighly obsessed over it. His characters are beautiful, awful, ugly, singular, loveable, realistic and over the fucking top, all at once. He became one of my favorite writers along with Dennis Lehane and James Ellroy. Congratulations sir!
