I have a theory about Nightwish. At least, the Nightwish of my early adulthood. There is a subconscious part of every man's brain that's in love with Tarja Turunen from the first time he hears her voice. It is so powerful and evocative. The opera vocals is telling you that she's not a bimbo, she has a mind of her own and that she must be strong-willed to have found success using a archaic skill like this. Plus, if you hear that voice, you can't help but think she's beautiful and she is. Tarja is the girl every fifteen year old thinks he's entitled to have and the inner fifteen year old in men is hard to kill.
STARGAZERS is about the least corny song Nightwish ever recorded and it's pretty corny. The corniest song they've ever recorded is pretty bad and yet it still is strangely evocative. Pin that on strong songwriting. I particularly like STARGAZERS, because it remains oddly abstract throughout, so the focus remains on the otherworldliness of Tarja's voice. Did I tell you she was still just thirty-five? She is not an idea, yet and she is still active. Dream on, gentlemen. Dream on. She will never be yours, she is awesomely married to that guy. But it's not important, or is it?
A grand oasis in the vastness of gloom
Child of dew-spangled cobweb, Mother to the Moon
Constellations beholders of the 3rd vagrant
Theater for the play of life
Tragedienne of heavens
Watching the eyes of the night
Sailing the virgin oceans
A Planetride for Mother and Child
Floating upon the quiet hydrogen lakes
In this ambrosial merry-go-round they will gaze
Ephemeral life touched by a billion-year-show
Separating the poet from the woe
[Repeat chorus]
Oracle of the Delfian Domine
Witness of Adam's frailty
Seer of the master prophecy
The stellar world her betrothed
Wanderers in cosmic caravan
Universal bond - The Starborn
A son in search for the truth
Following the pages of Almagest
Discovering the origin of dreams
Stargazers ride through the ancient realms
