What are you looking for, homie?

On Jealousy, Inspiration & Success

I never thought I'd say these words one day, but : the Olympics are a pretty busy period for me. I've been covering the games on social media for a client and it's quite the life regimen I've taken for the next two weeks : 15 hours a day, 7 days a week devoted to work until February 23. It's going to affect Dead End Follies in some way, that's for sure. I just don't know how yet. I'm going to write less long pieces for the next two weeks, but it shouldn't affect the quality of content.

Here is a Dead End Follies greatest hits video I've linked to several times before, but never given its own blog post. There can be a strange sense of rivalry between creative people at times. It's something easy to surrender to, but it's not productive thinking. It's not the right mind set to be in to succeed. Joe Rogan and Bryan Callen had this powerful, moving discussion on The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast a couple of years ago, about envy and inspiration. I'm very critical of motivational material on the web, but this is the real deal if you're a struggling creative type.

This video is Dead End Follies approved. If you're about to give in to your negative feelings today, take 5 minutes to watch it and remember: creation is not a competition. Your own work is more important that what somebody else is doing.
