I've been wanting to write that post for several months now, but it's only since yesterday that I can. I am proud to announce that not only, I'm gainfully employed, but that this gig is an improvement over the previous one in every possible way. Color smart drink-yellow, because I'm genuinely excited.
Beating the throes of unemployment is by far the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I've learned a lot about myself, about life and about the world in general. But mainly that the only way the universe can crush you is that if you let it. Today is just a preamble, but I'm pondering a series of Letters to a Young, Unemployed Arts Person, that might hit the blog as soon as next week.
I'm now a Digital Content Manager for a well-respected local web marketing agency. It's a hybrid animal between a copywriter and a community manager, which is a best-case scenario for me. Making a living from writing and using my creativity is what I wanted. Having a smaller, less corporate work environment was also a factor, so I esteem that my victory over fate is complete.
I don't know how the new gig will affect the blog, but it should be minimal. I still have a decent time window to write in the morning and several ones at night, also. That was part of the whole choosing process (yes, because the greatest part of all this, is that in the end, I had the choice). So expect shorter posts (like this one) and scrambling this week, but things should get back to normal as I master the learning curve of my new and improved existence.
