It's been a while I haven't got a good meme to analyze. So, let's get to work...
Origin: So, this unnamed guy (who never got caught to my knowledge), who decided to climb the window of the Dodson household in Huntsville, Alabama with one idea in mind, raping young Kelly Dodson. Pretty grim huh? Well, not at all. Why? First of all, the guy was reportedly intoxicated and failed to assault the resilient fourteen years old.
Segundo, her sexually ambiguous brother Antoine calls the news and turns himself into a show in front of the cameras. The skinny, undersized young adult punks out the intruder in front of the camera, happy to have his fifteen minutes of fame, he calls him out bad-racial-ghetto-cliche-style. He admitted in a second interview that he spoke under the emotion of the moment, but it was too late, a YouTube channel called Autotune The News grabbed a hold of his video and turned him into an improbable star.
Why is it so funny?: Because the song is so good. Autotune The News did such a good job in turning a ghetto rant into an up-beat dance-able song that Dodson's sloppy rant completely disappears behind the music. The guys winged it SO HARD to get his fifteen minutes of fame that his over-the-top rant matches the song and makes him look like a superstar. I like this meme a lot because it makes you wonder what kind of crappy artists music companies try to make you swallow with the wonders of Autotune.
Is there a future for Antoine Dodson? Probably not. As you could see in the second interview, he still lives in the projects and despite enjoying his newfound celebrity, he has yet to see a cent. He's like the one-hit-wonder of memes. Michael Swaim can sleep peacefully.
That said, I'd like to send the invitation, if you have memes that you would like me to analyze, send me the link in the comment section, I'm going to give them a shot every Friday.
